The Lure

In the dark of night, where waves caress the shore

A siren's call, a haunting, eerie roar

A mermaid's voice, a melody so sweet

Lures sailors in, to a watery retreat

Her locks flow like the seaweed's deadly sway

As she sings of secrets, in a voice that's gray

Her eyes glow bright, like lanterns in the dark

As she weaves a spell, that leaves men left to embark

On ships that creak, and groan with age

She rides the waves, with a wicked, wily stage

Her tail glimmers, scales like polished stone

As she tempts the brave, to a fate unknown

In moonlit nights, when tides are high

She rises up, with a ghostly sigh

Her voice a whisper, a soft, cold breeze

That beckons men, to the ocean's dark release

With every note, a sailor's heart does ache

As he succumbs to her, like a shipwrecked stake

His soul is lost, in the depths below

As the mermaid's song, becomes his final woe

Her realm is darkness, her throne the sea

Where she reigns supreme, in a kingdom of the dead

Her beauty's a trap, her voice a snare

That lures the living, to a watery lair

The ocean's roar, a chorus to her song

As she sings of death, and a grave so long

The waves crash strong, a symphony so grand

As she lures the sailors, to their final stand

Their screams are drowned, by the ocean's might

As she drags them down, to a watery night

Their bodies lost, in the dark below

As the mermaid's song, becomes their eternal woe

The ships lie wrecked, on the ocean floor

A testament to her, and her song's dark score

The sailors' bones, a haunting, ghostly choir

That echoes her song, in a mournful, funeral fire

Her voice is power, her song a spell

That binds the sailors, to their watery hell

Their souls are trapped, in her dark design

As the mermaid's lure, becomes their eternal bind

So let this be a warning, to all who sail

Beware the mermaid's call, that echoes through the gale

For in her song, you'll find your doom

And in her eyes, a fatal, fathomless tomb

The mermaid's song, a haunting, ghostly refrain

Echoes through the night, a warning in vain

The sailors' fate, a cautionary tale

Of the mermaid's lure, that no man can hail.

I love mermaid's and I haven't written about a siren/mermaid in awhile. Hope you liked it as much as I wrote. It was fun.
