What Happened in My Home, & What God Did in My Heart

Yesterday something happened in my home that shook me to my core as a mother, A woman of God, & a protector of my children. I’m sharing this because I refuse to let darkness hide in silence. My home belongs to Jesus, & anything that threatens the purity, safety, or peace of my children will be exposed to the light.

For a while now, my son Kayson has been telling me that his grandfather has been watching pornography on his phone. Not quietly. Not privately. Loud enough that my kids can hear it from another room. Loud enough that even their friends have heard it when they stayed the night. Loud enough that it fills the atmosphere of my home with something filthy & spiritually heavy.

My kids shouldn’t even know what that is — but they do, because they’ve been forced to hear it.

And the night before, it happened again. Kayson was in the bathroom & heard it. He told his grandfather, “Can you not watch that when me & my siblings are around?” And the response he got was, “It doesn’t concern you. You shouldn’t know what that is.”

But it does concern him. It concerns all of my children. It concerns me as their mother. It concerns the atmosphere of my home. It concerns the spiritual environment I’ve been fighting to protect.

Then later, when my boys were outside shooting their BB gun — following every safety rule they learned in their gun safety class — My Father-in-law threatened my son. He told him, “If you go back outside & shoot that gun again, I’m going to take it & break it right in front of you.”

That was the moment the Mama Bear in me rose up.

 told him plainly:

“You are not going to threaten my children or destroy something you didn’t buy. We took a gun safety class. We have certificates. I even have my permit to carry. But you think you can threaten my kids while openly watching porn in front of them?”

He tried to deny it.

But I have four kids who have heard it.

Four kids who have been exposed to something they never should have been around.

And yes — it concerns me. It is my business when it comes to my kids.

It concerns my kids.

It concerns my home.

It concerns my God.

That was the first time since his parents passed away that I confronted him like that. But this time, I had a reason. A righteous reason. I am tired of fighting battles in my own house. I am tired of the spiritual heaviness. I am tired of the nastiness, the inappropriate shows, the negativity, the disrespect, & now pornography.

My home is a place of worship.

My home is a place of prayer.

My home is a place where Jesus is welcome.

Pornography is not.

✨ What Happened Today at Church

This morning, I invited Jesus & His angels to church with me. I needed heaven to walk in with me. I needed strength that wasn’t mine. I needed peace that wasn’t coming from this house. At the end of service, I walked to the altar & lifted my father‑in‑law into prayer. Not because I’m fighting him — but because I’m fighting the enemy behind him. I can’t fight flesh. I can’t change a man’s heart. I can’t force someone to know Jesus.

But I can pray.

I can surrender.

I can make room for God to move.

I told the Lord, “Take over this house. I make room for You to do whatever You want to do.”

I sang every worship song as a prayer.

I laid my father‑in‑law at the feet of Jesus.

I asked God to break whatever chains are on him.

I asked God to cleanse my home.

I asked God to protect my children.

My father‑in‑law says he “knows Jesus” and “goes to church,” but he never leaves the house except for the store. He knows of Jesus, but he does not know Him. There is no fruit. There is no conviction. There is no transformation.

But I know this:

The enemy will not win in my home.

The enemy will not influence my children.

The enemy will not contaminate the atmosphere God has been cleansing.

I am a daughter of the Most High God.

I am a mother who protects her children.

I am a woman who fights on her knees.

And I will not back down.

If you’re reading this & you’ve ever had to protect your children from something you never expected to face inside your own home, I want you to know this:

You are not alone.

You are not weak.

You are not overreacting.

You are not crazy.

You are a protector.

You are a warrior.

You are a mother.

And God sees you.

I’m choosing to fight this battle in prayer, not in anger. I’m choosing to let God handle what I cannot. I’m choosing to trust that He will cleanse my home, guard my children, & deal with the enemy behind the scenes.

My home belongs to Jesus.

And I will keep fighting until every corner of it reflects Him. 

What God Says About Pornography & False Claims of Knowing Him

Pornography is not “just a bad habit.” It is not “just adult entertainment.” It is sexual immorality, and God speaks very clearly about it. Anything that stirs lust, distorts purity, or corrupts the mind falls under the same biblical warnings.

1. God’s Word on Sexual Sin (Including Pornography)

Ephesians 5:3 (NIV)

“But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality…”

Pornography is more than a “hint.” It is a flood of impurity that God tells His people to avoid completely.

Matthew 5:28 (NIV)

“Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

Jesus Himself said that lust — even in the mind — is sin. Pornography feeds lust. It trains the heart in adultery.

Psalm 101:3 (NIV)

“I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless.”

God calls His people to guard their eyes, because what we watch shapes our spirit.

1 Thessalonians 4:3–5 (NIV) 

“It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality… not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God.”

Pornography is the opposite of sanctification. It is the opposite of purity. It is the opposite of God’s will.

Many people say they “know Jesus.”

Many say they “go to church.”

But Jesus Himself said that words mean nothing without fruit.

“By their fruit you will recognize them.”

If someone claims to know Jesus but lives in unrepentant sin, shows no transformation, and produces no fruit, Jesus says their life reveals the truth.

Titus 1:16 (NIV)

“They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny Him.”

This verse speaks directly to people who say the right things but live the wrong way. (they live in the flesh & of the world)

1 John 2:4 (NIV)

“Whoever says, ‘I know Him,’ but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.”

God does not mince words.

Knowing about Jesus is not the same as knowing Him.

James 1:22 (NIV)

“Do not merely listen to the word… Do what it says.”

Faith without obedience is empty.

3. What God Says About Protecting Your Home❤️‍🔥

Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Guarding your home is part of guarding your heart.

Ephesians 4:27 (NIV)

“Do not give the devil a foothold.”

Pornography in a home is a foothold.

Threats toward children are a foothold.

Spiritual contamination is a foothold.

You are right to shut the door.

Joshua 24:15 (NIV)

As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

This is your declaration.

This is your boundary.

This is your spiritual authority.

🔥 Call to Action for My Readers

If you are reading this and something in your home, your family, or your atmosphere feels spiritually wrong — don’t ignore it.

Don’t minimize it.

Don’t excuse it.

Don’t pretend it’s “not that bad.”

God calls us to protect our homes, guard our children, and stand against darkness, even when it comes through someone we love.

Here’s my call to you:

1. Pray for discernment.

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what is influencing your home.

2. Confront darkness with truth.

Not with rage. Not with fear.

With Scripture. With authority. With clarity.

3. Protect your children without apology.

You are their covering.

You are their voice.

You are their shield.

4. Invite Jesus into your home.

Not just into your heart — into your living room, your atmosphere, your routines, your relationships.

5. Pray for those who are spiritually blind.

You cannot change them.

But Jesus can.

And sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is place them on the altar and step back.

6. Declare your home as holy ground.

Say it out loud.

Walk through your rooms.

Pray over your doors.

Speak Scripture into the air.

Your home belongs to God — not to the enemy.
